The Adventure of St Maarten St Martin
St. Maarten St Martin is the smallest twin-nation island in the world with half being French and half being Dutch governed. However, there is some dispute about that due to folklore about when the French and Dutch were fighting over the island in the 16th century during the days of pirates and tall-ships.

Well, after many bottles of rum and a few fights later, they were still not agreed so they made a bet. The challenge was to race around the island in opposite directions and wherever they met, that would be where they drew a line and divided up the island in half.
So they drew a line in the sand, set off in the heat with their troops to walk around the island hoping to divide it up evenly between them when they reached the other side. The nostalgic version of the legend says that the Dutch, as prone to a few drinks then as they are now, had to take a nap half way round because they were too drunk, so the French had the better of the Dutch in the end – they netted 20 sq miles and the Dutch only 17 sq miles!
Despite the odd skirmish in the past, it is now a peaceful, neighborly affair which has benefited both sides tremendously and grown St. Maarten – St. Martin into the cosmopolitan, exciting, tranquil, picturesque, beautiful and inspiring island paradise it is today.
Living in the Caribbean for over 13 years and having frequented most of the other islands in the region, I can personally tell you that St. Maarten St. Martin is by a long way the best island – to visit and to live on.

Things You Can Do That Will Make Traveling Easier
The United States offers a wide range of travel destinations to suit just about anyone’s tastes. This article will give you some ideas as to what the United States has to offer, when considering your next travel destination.
If you are staying in a hotel in a foreign country you should look it up on a web based satellite program. This will help you to see what the face of the building looks like and will help to familiarize yourself with the area even before you have set foot in the country.
Take a good book with you to read when traveling. If you always have something interesting to do, you will be less likely to get frustrated or bored during layovers and other time delays that are beyond your control. Buy a new title that you have been wanting to read so that you have something to look forward to.
If you plan on taking an extended trip, you should look for ways to save money around the house during your prolonged absence. Some cable and utility providers will allow you to place temporary holds on your account for a brief period of time, during which you will not be charged monthly fees.
If you are planning to travel to another country, prepare a few cards that state what foods you are allergic to in the native language of your destination. If you are a vegetarian or a vegan, you can use this idea to let your servers know what you can and can’t eat. The cards will make it more likely that you will have a pleasurable dining experience while you are away.
Try to book on flights that nobody generally wants. It’s a much cheaper option for air travel. These flights are generally the ones that leave very early or the last flights of the day. They obviously vary by area, but you can generally find some great deals because they are not as popular.
