During the fall and winter months, I get pleasure from creating hearty soups and stews in my crock pot for my family. I enjoy the fact that I can invest several minutes inside the morning preparing it, place it into the slow cooker and walk away…a couple of hours later, our dinner is hot and prepared to enjoy.
The recipe beneath will be the 1st one I created when I got my crock pot for Christmas 2 years ago. This stew recipe is for a 6 quart slow cooker. Depending on the size of one’s slow cooker, the amount of ingredients could vary.
The following recipe was given to me by my 83 year old excellent aunt about 25 years ago. To this day, I still enjoy generating it for my family. For those who don’t like okra, you are able to absolutely omit it from the recipe. At times, I have actually substituted the okra with some fresh green beans or green peas, and the stew was just as delicious.
Old-Fashioned Beef Stew Recipe
INGREDIENTS
2 lbs. beef cubes
1 lb stew meat
1 pkg stew seasoning
3 pkg brown gravy mix
1 typical size pkg of mixed vegatables
3 beef bullion cubes
1 tsp Worchestire sauce
8 cups of water
1 Tbs flour
1 Tbs Butter
3 Medium Potatoes
Cooking oil
Cornstarch*
Onion and Garlic powder to taste*
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
