The Best Computer Games In The 1980s
We really saw some fantastic computer games being released during the eighties. The fact that the audio and graphics of these games were not a patch on what we have today doesn’t matter because what they lacked in graphics and sound, they more than made up for in game play. In fact modern day game developers could actually learn quite a bit from games that were out in the eighties. Below are just some of the better games that were out in the eighties.
Donkey Kong
This was an addictive game that was really popular in its day and is still something that people like to play today. The aim is to climb ladders, jump of barrels, and keep on climbing until you capture the girl from the crazy gorilla. This game soon became the most successful game of the 1980s after being released in 1981. If you are thinking of trying out a retro game for yourself then Donkey Kong is definitely one to try.
International Karate
My own personal favourite 1980s game has to be International Karate. The main aim of this game was to score as many points as you could by kicking or punching your opponent. There was no need to beat them into a pulp, but a good kick to the head would knock them out cold. You also got to break plenty of boards in this game.

Why I Dumped My Console To Go Back To Playing PC Games
When I say that I dumped my console to go back to playing PC games I’m exaggerating slightly. My console is not actually sitting in a bin or on a rubbish tip at the moment. What I mean is that I’ve stopped playing it and have returned instead to PC games. A lot of other gamers are curious about the move and wonder what caused me to make it; some see it as a sign that I’m now a serious gamer while others see it as turning into a gaming fundamentalist. In the rest of this article I’ll try to explain some of the reasons that convinced me to make this move.
- I’ve always envied PC gamers because they seem to be so much more passionate about the activity. Their equipment might not be as user friendly as the console but they are easily able to get around this. PC gamers tend to be a lot more knowledgeable about gaming and this appealed to me.
- My favourite thing about PC gaming is that it is possible to build your own computer just as you like it; this is something I plan to do in the future. This means that I can develop a machine to play the exact games that I want to play.
- After a few years a console will become obsolete and then you won’t be able to get games for it. The only way you will be able to continue playing new games then you will have to invest in a new console. This was something that always bothered me as I felt it was a way to get more money out of us. The PC will never become obsolete and you will always be able to get new games for it.

Confessions Of A Recovering PC Gamer
My name is Timothy and I would consider myself to be a recovering PC gamer. Just a few weeks back I was so passionate about PC gaming that there is no way that I would ever have believed that I might feel any other way about it. However I am now of the opinion that PC gaming is dead although fellow PC gamers might want to lynch me for saying this. It is like I’ve woken up to reality and now view my thoughts of just a few weeks ago as not only a bit naive but also bordering on delusional.
So you may be wondering what happened to make my views on PC gaming change so much? Well the fact is that it was maintaining my denial about the console games that was the hard part. Actually admitting that the console was better than the PC came as a relief; I already knew this for a lot time but just maintained my denial. Many PC gamers will be in the same position that I was and the reason for this is because it is expected for PC gamers to say that the console game is no good. But I am now of the opinion that PC gaming is the one that is naff and not console gaming.
There will always be people who resist change and react to this by being purist about the old way of doing things. Despite the fact that it is becoming more and more obvious that PC gaming is dead, the PC gamer is just not willing to admit it. There has even been a decline in illegal downloading of PC games and it will probably soon happen that the game developers will just stop making PC games completely. Come on PC gamers join us on the dark side.
