Camping Recipes Your Kids Will Never Stop Talking About
Camping with your kids is an experience like no other. Spending time with each other in the great outdoors is enough to make anybody hungry. Luckily, we have a list of great camping recipes your kids are sure to love.
One easy camping recipe to enjoy is called the Campfire Pizza. All you have to do is oil a frying pan, place in a tortilla shell, spread a layer of tomato paste onto the tortilla shell and sprinkle over with any pizza toppings of your choice. When the pizza is done, which you can tell by the golden brown color of the crust, fold it in half, slice into pie shaped pieces and serve.
Another pizza-inspired recipe is the English Muffin. All one has to do is bring along a handful of muffin halves to be roasted on all sides. Spread pizza sauce over the flat halves of your muffins and cover with the toppings of your choice.
A good camping recipe to take note of is the one for Foil Hamburgers. Just bring along some ground beef patties, some hamburger buns and vegetables. Place the hamburger patty in foil and cover with the vegetables of your choice. Cook this on top of hot coals and spill onto your bun when the patty is done.
Camping Popcorn is another camping recipe to remember. Bring along a square sheet of double foil, popcorn kernels and oil. Place the kernels, along with a dollop of oil onto the foil, which is then to be folded to form a pouch. Don’t seal the pouch tightly, for you need to leave room for the popcorn to pop in. Tie this pouch to a branch or stick and hold it over hot coals.
A snack that is easy to make when camping is Onion Rings. Bring along some onion slices, sit them in milk and coat with flour and bread crumbs. Fry these rings in a skillet over your campfire until they are golden brown. This might take around two minutes.
Peach Cobbler is another camping recipe any kid will surely love. Fill a pot with half of your cake mix, which has been previously prepared at home, and push this mix against the bottom and side of the pot. Coat this with peaches. Cover the whole thing with the remaining half of your cake mix and add thin slices of butter on top. Stick this into your campfire for about an hour or so and you’re done.

How is a Bowie Knife Different From a Hunting Knife?
Bowie knives are hunting knives, aren’t they? This is a common question. However, bowie knives aren’t technically hunting knives – they are multipurpose tools. Hunting knives are usually very specific in their intended use. For instance, a gut hook knife is intended for an obvious purpose. Likewise, a skinning knife is used for skinning and doesn’t perform very well for other uses. Bowie knives, on the other hand, can be used to skin, gut, chop, cut and numerous other things.
First, standard hunting knives tend to be designed for a single use. Take the skinning knife for example. These have long, slim, razor-sharp blades. They are powerful tools when used for their intended purpose (skinning animals). However, how do you think that blade would hold up if you tried to chop with it? What if you encountered a bone or tough sinews? Would the skinning knife be able to handle the increased pressure and abuse? Chances are the knife would not be suited for any purpose other than skinning.
Now, a bowie knife on the other hand, is designed for many different uses. Originally, the bowie knife was designed for personal protection, as well as general-purpose use in camping, hunting and fishing. This is why the blade is so large and thick – it has to be to deal with such a wide variety of different uses. While you will find that specialty knives do a better job in their very specific field, a bowie knife will outperform other knives, simply because you can use it for such a wide range of different things. You can skin with them, chop brush, gut fish, chop vegetables, cut through bone and more.
You’ll also find that bowie knives have very different shapes than other hunting knives. While all bowies share the clipped point design (you’ll find this on some hunting knives, too), you will also find a few other features. Some bowie knives have a Spanish Notch on the blade that can be useful when hunting or camping. Some knives also have saw-teeth on the blade’s spine, though some users find these cumbersome, annoying and even dangerous in some circumstances.
Choosing to purchase a bowie knife over a hunting knife is an excellent decision. This will ensure that you are able to use your knife in almost any situation and that you will not suffer the limitations brought on by a single-use type of knife.
