Adam And Eve Story – The Catastrophe Of Eden
Although the Adam and Eve story as recorded in the 3rd chapter of Genesis has been lampooned by teachers and scoffers of every generation, we believe in its providence unquestioningly and are not only sure that it took place but that it has had wide-ranging and far-reaching implications for all the posterity of our fore-parents. All the way down to 2012 we are still putting up with the downcast and significant consequences of that unavoidable day and the tragic insubordination of a couple who had been made by God and placed by Him in the prettiest paradise on earth.
Many scientists and scholars have derided the simpleness of the tale and have poured scorn on people who would be dumb enough to accept the Biblical account of the Fall but Romans 5.12 makes it clear that “by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”. The creating of man was God’s masterpiece of those 6 days work and from the dust of the ground He made the 1st homo sapien, in innocence. A little time later He caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, the first case of anaesthesia, and from one of Adam’s ribs God made a girl to be a companion and help-meet for the person.
God enjoyed fellowship and communion with them and placed only one prohibition on them to check their commitment. It was not hard, actually not impossible because there was plethora of food and all varieties of trees yielding fruit of all sorts. Adam wasn't predicted to work for his food; it was unreservedly provided for him by God. The one prohibition was to desist from eating the fruit of one particular tree in the middle of the garden, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The devil however swayed them that God was rejecting them some benefit by refusing to permit them to partake of the fruit of that tree and eventually Eve capitulated and did what God had told her not to do. She shared the fruit with Adam, who, conscious of what God predicted of him, purposively rejected and disobeyed God, with terrible effects. They were expelled from the garden and a great rift developed between them and God.

Sunday School Lessons Are Still Vital For Young People
Many complain about the ever waning interest in learning truths from the Bible and the declining attendance at Sunday Schools everywhere. Are we to accept this unfortunate trend or should we be making an attempt to do something about it? Are we to retreat before the vitriolic attack of secularism, atheism and humanism or should we be redoubling our efforts to interest the young in Bible truth and give them encouragement to attend Sunday School and Youth Meetings?
We have a belief in the spiritual dimension of every human being; that simple materialism can't meet all our wants and that “man shall not live by bread alone”. A society which caters for the material and physical needs of our young is denying them the must haves for a full, all-around development of the individual person. This can well say why we reside in what's been known as “a damaged society”, broke and fragmented; divided and perilous; full of disaffected and disillusioned children who've been brainwashed into assuming that only things matter and that there is no God; no responsibility to a Creator and no hereafter.
Herein lies the understated value of Sunday school lessons, teaching invariable and eternal truth for our changing times and catering for the spiritual needs and wants of our young. We owe it to them; we are rejecting generations the lifeline of Biblical truth and we are basically responsible for the issues of present society. Let us not blame the flesh pressers as we are so prepared to do, or anybody else for that matter; we have not managed to communicate those critical truths that served earlier generations well and which may always fulfil a vital role in our world.
Because truth has been derided and the Bible has been belittled and banned principally from our colleges and institutions is no excuse for us to back-pedal and shy away from our responsibility. We want to remind our young of one God, all-seeing, omnipresent and omnipotent and we need to tell them of the facts of creation and the Fall of man.
