The Great Outdoor Lights

The truth about outdoor track lighting is that it is one of the most popular features on the market today. This is more a testament to its versatility than anything else. More often than not, this fixture is used to secure the perimeter of a home or building. Likewise, it is triggered by a motion sensor, helping residents and tenants stay safe.

Safer tenants and residents tend to be nicer tenants and residents. Show them you care about their personal safety and install a series of outdoor tracks. If said residents and tenants have children, you have a moral obligation to make sure they have the appropriate amount of light at night to stay safe.

What tends to happen is that a property owner, or landlord, will neglect to light the perimeter of the property, resulting in assaults, muggings, and worse. If a judge or jury find the lack of lighting contributed to the attack, the landlord could be held responsible for damages. Given that lawsuits are anathema to landlords, more often than not they will already have outdoor lighting solutions in place.

Be sure to inspect the property at night, before moving into a new rental unit or home. This will tell you to what extent the property is secured by triggered track lights or motions sensors. Be on the lookout for dense convergences of shadows and large shrubs that could obscure or hide potential criminals.

Always take the time to protect yourself and take the time to inform the landlord or property manager whenever a lack of lighting seems problematic to you. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure — and there is no need to willingly welcome an attack by not speaking out. If the situation is not right, work to fix it immediately.

It happens to be a fact that outdoor track lighting can be an extremely effective deterrent. Look into it before it’s too late.
